For this year’s New Year’s Gala, travel with us back to Vienna, Europe's centre of music, art and culture during the Austro-Hungarian Habsburg dynasty. The HK Phil performs waltzes, marches and polkas by the King of Waltz, Johann Strauss and family, alongside the ever-popular Hungarian Dances of Brahms and the brilliant Hungarian Rhapsodies by Liszt. Conductor Gergely Madaras, a native Hungarian who studied composition in Budapest and conducting in Vienna, will lead this jubilant musical journey between the two great capitals. With his unique connection to both traditions, he is the perfect guide for an evening of elegance, joy, and charm.
The concert runs approximately 1 hour 30 minutes with an intermission.
For ages 6 and above
